In 2017, the TGA implemented the approval of alternative therapies such as medicinal cannabis via a special access scheme where patients could under the supervision of their doctor access the medicine if they were not responding to their current conventional treatment plan.
In 2024 there will be over 500 experienced authorised prescribers, patients can easily find an experienced practitioner or discuss with their GP if alternative therapies are right for them and eligible under the TGA requirements.
